Role Of Digital Platforms In Empowering Marginalized Genders
Abstract
This research investigates the role of digital platforms in empowering marginalized genders, focusing on how online spaces facilitate community building, self-expression, and access to resources. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study combines quantitative data on platform usage with qualitative interviews from individuals identifying as LGBTQ+, non-binary, and other marginalized gender identities. Findings reveal that digital platforms serve as crucial tools for advocacy, enabling users to share experiences, access support networks, and engage in activism. However, challenges such as online harassment and algorithmic biases pose significant barriers to full empowerment. The research highlights the importance of intersectionality, examining how factors such as race, class, and geographic location influence experiences on digital platforms. Recommendations include enhancing platform policies to protect users from discrimination and promoting inclusive content that reflects diverse identities. By shedding light on the transformative potential of digital spaces, this study aims to inform stakeholders, including tech developers and policymakers, about the need for equitable practices that amplify the voices of marginalized genders. Ultimately, the research seeks to contribute to a more inclusive digital landscape that fosters empowerment and representation for all individuals.
